Japanese don't know about it and in Japan it's almost taboo to even mention it. Japanese not only don't want to get familiar with it but they don't want others to think they are familiar with it. Meanwhile getting drunk at parties is totally fine, if not almost recommended (maybe not to get drunk but to not refuse alcohol too much).
