I tried guitar for quite a while but my fingers couldn't hold chords, even after almost two years it was just to hard.
Than I found a baritone ukelele. That I can play and I have lots of fun with it. So much easier form my fingers and still a nice warm sound.
Started with a cheap Chinese plywood one. No I have about 8. Ofcourse the solid wood sound a lot better, but I stil grab the first one quite often. It just plays very nic.

This is really helpful - as are your other videos. It’s great to see the comparison of not only sound but also the materials. (You have also totally sold me on a the baritone as a gateway instrument to either the more standard ukuleles or the guitar! I have a Clearwater baritone. However as an experiment I put baritone strings in a tenor uke with a scale length of 17 inches and it works well even though it is not as loud.

Hello great video, After watching your videos I have decided to buy a baritone. But when I reviewing my options there is a difference in the size of the scale, some of 19 inches and others of 20 inches, I have searched all over the web and I can not find information on whether the sound varies, and which would be the most recommended scale to buy. I just bought myself a Horse baritone Ukelele, and ill be getting a tenor soon too. The reviews are stellar, full mahogany body and high quality fit and finish, and the price is fantastic.

What would you recommend to someone who wants to really become fluent in playing this instrument? Obviously time and effort, but I want to be able to just play spontaniously, what type of learning best gets me going in that direction?

In my opinion the Cordova 20B sounds more like a warm spanish guitar sound rather than the typical high tenor Hawaii ukulele sound from the others.

I have the Kanile'a Premium and no regrets. It absolutely shines for fingerstyle.

I'd really like to have a good cedar-top baritone uke too, and probably will someday, but that would be a complement to the Kanile'a, _not_ a replacement for it.

great info... i'm looking for a baritone ukulele that has smaller nut and bridge string spacing (similar to a guitar, but even smaller). even though ukuleles are smaller instruments, the string spacing is greater than the average guitar.
