What happened to my transmission after recall? OSS failure and downshift to first gear on highway?

I just got the notice a week or so ago. Took it to my dealer, and, it was supposed to take an hour. I sat around for four hours, after I drove the truck into the dealer. Finally they gave up, and, could not get the update to load. And, then the service manager told me, that, the truck would not start, because of some foul up. I live 80 miles from the dealer, they gave me a free loaner, and, are going to try to iron it out today. The service manager said that Ford would fix everything at their cost, the vehicle is off warranty, but, this is covered. I will just have to wait to see what happens. I love the truck, it has been flawless, but, this sort of thing makes me nervous. All of this advanced tech is great, until it is not. Of course with a manual transmission you can have a clutch go, but, I think I would be willing to give up some mileage to have a more simple auto transmission.

So I'm hella late to this but, I just took mine to the dealer yesterday 2/7/2023 I have the 3.5 2013 eco with 146k miles . Just recently the transmission down shift started bout 1 month ago . I got no letter just got info from Google about possible recall . Anyways took it in, service dept says to me should be done by end of the the it's a quick computer flash and bam. I get a call later that same day, sorry we won't be able to work on your truck it's more complicated than we thought and the part we need is on back order . So can someone guide me to the ne t step, should I call another dealer ? Also everyone keeps saying it's a software issue but service department here in Virginia told me the part is on back order . So not sure what's going on . This my first ever ford and possibly my last .

Just got my notice 3 weeks ago for my limited 2013 150 ecoboost. Taking it in on feb 13th for fix.

I have a 2013 f150 super-crew cab that did exactly what your described. Mine is 2013 and it started in late 2018. Took it to the dealer and they kept it for a month driving it home and for parts etc and said they could not replicate it. This was the 3rd time I was at the dealership for this reason. I then took it back where I got it and that dealership looked up recalls from other years and knew what to look for. It originally didn’t got into the 2013 models but eventually did. Imma say for about 5 to 6 months the first dealer was saying they could not replicate it. Man how you feel to spend nearly $40, 000 and they don’t see anything! OMG I was tilted! After that ford lost every bit of trust from me and I will never own another one after this.

Getting mine done now, haven't had any poblems in the year and a half I have owned it, hopefully this doesn't cause it to start giving me problems.. 🤞

Just took mine into Ford, and no hessitation they will fix it.Also Mine is the 3.5 Ecoboost (v6)

Got a letter for my 2013 f150 a couple months ago, havent had a chance to get It in to be fixed and my transmission failed last week, called ford and they said this software update wont cause failed of transmission. Wondering who I should contact to find out if it is the reason I am now without a vehicle and looking at 2000 or more in repairs .

I took my 2013 to dealer where I bought truck and they installed the software. A couple of months later I received a letter from Ford advising me that wrong software had been installed. Took to a different dealer and they installed the right one. (I hope.) Apparently 2013s require a different software than other years.

I have a 2012 f150 5.0 and when I went in to get my last oil change they informed me they was gonna do an upgrade to my transmission. Needless to say every since then this thing shifts like shit!

I have a 2012 Mustang GT 5.0. It is doing the same thing. I called Ford, gave them my VIN and they said I didn't qualify.

I got the same letter. Called Ford dealership today to schedule software update. They said they don't have the software update yet.

Does it apply to the 2011?? I haven’t got a recall on mine yet
