AUTOMATIC PARKING LOT SYSTEM WITH AUTOMATIC PLATE RECOGNITION SYSTEM

The project combines the capabilities of hardware and software into one integrated automatic system. It is about a parking lot with automatic gate opening based on the car plate number that will be detected using a camera at the gate, and will allow only the authorized cars to enter the parking, i.e. those who have their car plate numbers registered in the system database. We also used a sensor in the front of the entrance gate that can detect the presence of the car in front of the gate, and so send a signal to the camera to take a picture and run the openALPR system to recognize and read the car plate number and check the database for this number after that. We used a sensor of the same type at the exit gate, for controlling exit gate opening too, but without any need for any authorization for sure. Our design also includes a seven-segment display that shows the number of free spots in the parking, with a maximum of nine spots, an update to the seven-segment display will occur each time a car enters or exits the parking.
