Ethan Hawke is an Academy Award nominated actor who has been in over 100 films. But that slight pause when he saw Celine will always be his best work.

Can you imagine what he felt like when he saw her there after all those years? I know I would totally get lost on what I was talking about lol I love this trilogy

How perfect is the fact that he says "time is a lie" as he sees her?!
That's some good writing, timing and acting

I read that the trilogy was inspired by Linklater's time he spent with a woman named Amy Lehrhaupt. Linklater had hoped she would show up at a screening one day, but unbeknownst to him she had died in an accident in 1994. Jesse and Celine's reunion must have been what Linklater had hoped for.

I remember watching this in the theater and that moment in the editing when they switched from flashbacks to Celine standing in the bookstore. My heart skipped a beat.

I love the vulnerability in his face at 2:11. Both he and Delpy are such wonderful, subtle actors.

1:51 One of the best examples of editing in any film.

In real life Ethan Hawke is a great writer as well, while he has a natural knack for dialogue (evidenced by many of the brilliant and fascinating verbal exchanges that take place in this movie).
The man is quite versatile, this generally superb actor, writer, director, this pretty good athlete, this outstanding and articulate conversationalist, and a real handsome ladies man (and a real good and entertaining dude as well). Much respect and admiration for Ethan Hawke!

Man i could just feel how his heart jumped when he saw her.
I wouldn't be just lost for words I would make a scene, bawling hysterically on the ground all curled up seeing the person I missed million times i could ever miss anyone combined.

Atleast in my head.
Probably he does here too lol
