1. Up until I was 18-19 years old I had never read a book voluntarily
- But at age 14 I read a book called the giver
- And the teacher took us the play for the book, told us about the movie
- She did an amazing job making the book be something exciting
- And that taught me that a book isn’t just nerds and that they are not just boring
Today Tommy Bryson 24 years old:
- Had read over 200 plus book, ranging from little books to books that took 60 hours to get all the way through
- From dense economic books to basic books on marriage and stocks
2. iPad, audible or Book
- We are all different but not that different
- I’ll tell you the pros and cons here
Audio Book Because I read for a minimum of 5 hours every single week
- This is an easy to have a book in the background and learn while you do an activity that’s automatic
- Like driving, working out or playing a sport
- However, it's very easy to get distracted and after a week or two you won't remember most of what read
Not an opinion a fact: 10% of what you hear you remember, 20% of what you read you remember, and 80% of what you remember
- So it's very important that when you hear an important part of the book
- You pause and you write it down and you visualize it
- That’s book provide so many visual examples and stories ( because facts are doll and boring for the brain )
Tip: 80% of what's in a book is trash and only 20% is truly important ( so focus on that 20%) and making sure you remember it
- Don’t be afraid to re-read books
- It's better to read a good book 52 times a years
- That to read a bunch of books and barely remember anything
3. iPad
- if I'm being honest this my weakest way of Reading or trying to do anything
- because I have access to many other things
- which could also distract me
Advice:
- if you can block out all the apps and only use it for reading ( then even better )
- and getting a kindle paper is going to better than iPad ( because the lack of distractions )
- but even when reading remember to take notes and highlight things and visualize and repeat
4. Books ( sometimes the Classic way is the Best way )
- You cant swipe up or left on a book
- So for me personally it’s the best way to read and fully be focused
- But in the beginning, I use to get distracted and felt like when I read I didn’t even know what I read
So tips;
- The more you do it the better you’ll get
- Use a dictionary when you don’t know a word
- and take notes, draw over the book and visualize
5. Books are just files in your head
- To help you see things differently
