Police report:
“On Friday, December 24th 2021, at approx 2:36 am, while on uniformed marked patrol in the city of Fort Myers, Office Bottomley and Officer Lutz responded to the [redacted] in reference to criminal mischief.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with security personnel who stated a male, later identified as John, had kicked a propane patio heater to the ground. John was being held by security for the offices pending an investigation. Officers on scene made contact with [redacted] who is a security officer for the hotel. [redacted] stated the following:

[redacted} was sitting near the door outside the patio when he observed John running towards a propane patio heater located in the middle of the patio. [redacted] then observed John kick the heater to the ground and run southbound towards [redacted]. Did not observe John after he ran. A few minutes later [redacted] observed John on the east side of the property bear the retention pond. John started running towards [redacted] until [redacted] told him to stop and offered him coffee. John then became calm and walked inside the hotel with [redacted]. John stayed with [redacted] until officers arrived. [redacted] advised that the heater contained glass that shattered when it was kicked by John and that the connecting hose for the propane had snapped. [redacted] advised that he would like to press charges on behalf of the hotel.

Officer Bottomly placed John into restraints, searched him, then put him in his patrol vehicle. It was evident that John was extremely intoxicated as he had urinated on himself and was confused about the incident. John was too intoxicated to understand his constitutional rights and to provide a sworn statement. [redacted] provided a sworn statement of the above story, which was submitted to evidence . com. Officer Lutz then spoke to the overnight supervisor, identified as [redacted], who stated that she did not see the incident but would like to press charges on behalf of the hotel.”

The look on the security guard's face when the student was denying everything was priceless...

Blackout drinking is absolutely real. If you drink a whole lot in a very short amount of time and it overwhelms your brain you literally cannot remember what's going on from one minute to the next. I know because I've been there. I'm incredibly lucky I was never arrested, been seriously injured or seriously injured anyone else before I grew out of that terrible pattern of behaviour. Hopefully dude learns a valuable lesson from this 🙏

The fact that he's not a raging jerk while this drunk says he's probably not a bad guy when sober. Come on sir, get a handle the alcohol and continue your education to a good future. I hate to see you ruin things for yourself when you've only just begun. You got this. 👍🏻

0:27 “Me?” The look of incredulousness on both faces is meme worthy.

This kid is clearly under the influence of something. I was a correctional deputy for years, and I’ve booked a lot of impaired college students. Most would simply sober up and get released, but every once in a while we’d get one who would be like this. Blacked out drunk or out of their minds on drugs. Sad and scary at the same time.

Can't imagine how crazy it's gotta be to get arrested then you come out of the daze and have no idea what you got arrested for.

It’s a good thing this turned into a 911 situation and not a Missing 411 situation. Very odd incident.

Something similar happened to me once - decades ago now. It was terrifying. One minute I was with friends having fun at a restaurant/bar. Next thing I know, I’m standing on the front porch of a house with no clue where I was or how I got there. I could remember the entire evening up to one point, then it was blank. Thank GOD my friend came looking for me (with a police officer, as she was also very drunk). The story could’ve ended very badly. I was just lucky. Glad those days are long over, especially the way things are today. 😬

I blacked out on acid in high school, I got taken to the hospital but didn't get arrested. I was laying in my neighbors lawn and my pants and glasses and wallet and stuff were all over the place. All i remember from the blackout was contemplating how closely blades of grass resembled tombstones lined to infinity.

Kid's actually lucky. He could have been "rolled", passed out on train tracks, drowned in a pool, anything.

Jails probably the best place for him at the moment. Being alone and that wasted is pretty risky
