I was taught by my grandmother to throw but to never take my thumb off the needle, just use your index finger. Makes it far quicker.

I’m trying so hard to grasp how this is done. I feel I’m having trouble with how to hold my yarn and getting the right tension. I’m a right handed knitter and have been for years.

Thanks but it is not enough ..you should show how you hold the yarn in your right hand ! It's of the most importance !
