Pineapples have enzymes that break the steak apart. Some people tenderize steaks using pineapple, but I recommend doing it with Papaya instead. The enzymes are a bit less potent, so you won’t deal with bad textures

Pineapples contain Bromelain. It's used as a meat tenderizer. You can puree a pineapple and marinade a tough steak in it for 30 minutes to tenderize it. If you go too far past 30 minutes the steak breaks down too much and the texture gets weird.

I think the issue was that the pineapple insulated the steak so much that it had to cook a lot longer, which resulted in it over-marinating in the pineapple.
Cooking it between two thinner slices of pineapple might yield better results, since it wouldn't spend as much time inside the pineapple.

It's really funny to me though that this one turned out so bad.

I had an insane daydream at one point where Mr Sausage began making various beverages in NSEs by using various powders in pourover coffee filters, like cheeto dust or kool-aid powder.
I struggle to imagine any of them could possibly taste good but I have not been able to get the cursed thoughts out of my head so I leave them here as an offering to the sausage gods to redeem my tainted soul.
