Hey mate. I worked for eBay for a while as a customer service rep and I worked directly with sellers, and I have a lot of experience with this. Often, stuff through the GSP would arrived damaged to customers.

This doesn't matter if it's the US or the UK as Pitney Bowes are the ones who have the contract for both, but one thing I know for sure is that the UK staff got in a lot of trouble for awful man-handling of packages, and for a while it calmed down, before they got reckless again.

eBay know, but eBay really don't care. People are still going to use the GSP for simplicity's sake and because of cost. For a lot of people, the GSP is a lot cheaper for them to use than to ship themselves.

I think Mr. "1 Grit Sandpaper" needs to have a quiet word with the Ebay global shipping program.

When I was selling stuff on eBay as a full time job (Blank Cassettes, VHS, etc.) and I had a buyer ask to use GSP, I told them no. I’d just sit down and do the 14 page paperwork (if I remember correctly) and send it out. I remember seeing on the forums that this was a common issue and just never wanted to run the risk. Plus, I’d always get positive feedback from my buyers for how fast I was able to get it there. Sure, I’d ask for more money for “handling” but it never was outrageous, and plus, the buyers were more than happy to pay just a little bit more so their item arrives faster and in the condition they bought it in.

We gotta ship a camera through the GSP that automatically records when the box is opened and shows the slash 'n dash in beautiful hd video

I work in a warehouse for a big eBay seller, and I always make sure to package the international orders really well. I had no idea they completely destroy the packaging when processing it. Pretty upsetting.

Bought a rare vinyl from the US that I've been looking for for several years. When one finally popped up I immediately bought it. Global Shitting Program. Arrived with the outer packaging and cover slashed, bent and the vinyl was shattered (which isn't even that easy to do). 100+eur and years worth of waiting for one to even show up down the drain. Thanks f*ckbay

I just shipped a mailer using GSP. They stole the item then put the empty mailer bag in a box and sent it on to the customer. Wonderful people.

I've had pitney Bowes steal my package several times. I used to live down the road from the Kentucky facility. It's in a shit hole. I remember having to ask for a refund, eBay not doing anything so I would file a police report several times. Seems to be they still don't give a rats ass EVEN AFTER having the police investigate several times. It's insane.

I once ordered some rare booster box with trading cards from the USA for 140 USD... all I got was a cardboard with an A4 paper taped on it that had some $1 pattern printed on it. I'm pretty sure the seller was trustworthy and didn't try to scam me. He was as confused as I was and luckily we were able to sort it out, although it took us a month of writing with each other and the ebay customer service to get our money back.

Absolute garbage. Don't ever order anything from that global scam program.

I was selling a motherboard and the buyer said it was broken. They sent back a locked motherboard and got away with it. Ebay has no protection for the seller through global shipping. This is BS

(Updated)
Seeing this is now making me panic about the vinyl records I brought a couple of days ago that are coming from the USA to the uk, I'm hoping they leave it alone as one of them is 50year old new old stock(still in it wrapping) and rare as rocking horse poo
Edit: it turned up a couple of days ago and it didn't look promising. The packaging had obviously been opened and poorly taped back together, with a nice slip mark of a box cutter, thankfully the seller had packed it well and the blade didn't make it through the second layer and my records thankfuly remained unharmed.
But I must admit this has really put me off buying anything from American sellers in the future

Let's all just mail cardboard boxes filled to the brim with glitter. They'll learn their lesson.

"i thought the seller was always safe on ebay" H-have you ever sold on ebay? XD i had a customer admit to destroying an item themselves and ebay still made me accept the return

One thing I hate about the GSP is that they claim to handle all the hard work _and_ customs charges in one neat package. The issue is that they've included bogus customs charges for book orders when book imports are not taxed in the UK.

I feel this man. I collect a lot of Mega Man NT stuff, a lot of which never got released outside of America. I bought one of the rarer figures from the line, which was mint on card, it was absolutely brand new and I paid a pretty penny for it.

Got it, and the backing card had been cut into, and there was damage to the figure itself because they'd managed to cut one of the rubber band ties that kept one of the accessories in, and it had been bouncing around in the box scuffing up the figure.

I was not a happy camper that day.
