For the last couple of months, I’ve been trying to learn Ukulele alongside guitar. Being so used to a pick, I just couldn’t get on with strumming the Uke. I was on the verge of giving up as I decided that ukulele wasn’t for me. This video has saved me and I would like to say thanks as I’ve finally got to hang of it and I’m happily playing again.

Girl, ur rooster saved the day. Thank you. Some of the most common sense things just don't enter sometimes. Needed that analogy to see from a different angle

Thank you for this video! I have found my nail catching the strings when I strum up with my index finger, even though I keep my nails short. Before today, I've been getting around this issue by strumming with the pads of my thumb and index finger instead of using the nails. Now that I've seen your video, I like your advice about strumming with the nails at an angel, and will definitely try to incorporate that into my practice routines.

Thank you very much! Your videos are really an inspiration. I really will try out to change the strings on my ukuleles; you must know I started to play in October, not knowing if I would manage - my corona project so to say! in the meanwhile - thanks to you and some other tutorial teachers - I hopefully will reach the aim to accompany our little singing team. And I really like your series about the finger picking, it offers a new range of possibilities for the untrained beginner like me if taken in slowly. Thank you 🙏 greetings from Germany 🌺💐

Finding the right angle to hold my uke REALLY helped, as my fingers are no longer hitting the fret. :)

I have been having trouble with gettng my fingers caught in the strings lately. Your advice has helped me to realize that it could have something to do with the new and different type of strings that I recenly put on my ukulele. Thanks!

I also have trouble with my fingernails clicking against the body of my ukulele as I strum. I try to strum near the base of the neck but if I should move my arm down a little they start clicking. Am I just too rambunctious in my strumming?

I bite my nails and I don't have nails on the tip of my fingers, it's just skin, so when I strum my nails never touch because there are no nails. This is the reason I rarely touch my ukelele, my fingers get stuck all the time. Seriously my nail biting is real bad, there's no fingernails to be used.

I don’t understand! When you strum it sounds great. When I strum I hear the nail clicking on the strings. It seems to sound better when I use the pad of my thumb or finger. What am I missing here please? My nails are short. Should I cut the extra- short?
