Replace the Cartridge | HP ENVY 5540 Printer | HP

Learn how to replace an ink cartridge in the HP ENVY 5540 printer. Replace any ink cartridges that are low, or out of ink, with genuine HP ink cartridges or HP Instant Ink cartridges. Instant Ink cartridges are larger than regular cartridges, but are installed the same way.

The steps in the video apply to the following printers:

HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 5575 All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5542 e-All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5544 All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5545 e-All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5546 All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5547 All-in-One Printer
HP ENVY 5548 All-in-One Printer

Steps to replace a cartridge in the HP ENVY 5540 printer:
First, power on the printer.
Load paper in the printer.
Use the small handles on both sides of the printer to lift the ink cartridge access door.
Push down on the cartridge you need to replace.
Remove the cartridge from the printer.
Remove the new cartridge from its packaging.
Use the pull tab to remove the plastic tape from the cartridge.
Make sure you install the replacement cartridge in its correct slot.
Tri-color on the left, and Black on the right.
Hold the cartridge by its sides, then slide it in the open slot.
Push the cartridge up and towards the rear of the printer until it snaps into place.
If necessary, replace the other cartridge.
Close the ink cartridge access door.
On the control panel, touch OK.
Print an alignment page.
Scan the alignment page, then touch OK.

I find the wireless feature the best. I like being able to print from my Ipad no matter where I am in the house. The Envy HP 5540 All-in-One is affordable and easy to use. I purchased it in June 2017 and it works like a charm. Have no problem changing ink cartridge.

The head alignment phase prints out OK, then a message appears saying the alignment was unsuccessful & directs me to the printer manual without getting to the "scan" phase. I don't have the manual to hand, can you give me any further troubleshooting advice please?
