Many speakers will also take banana plugs, which work very nicely. No-solder banana plugs for speaker wire are also really cheap.

Hex or square crimpers are good for ferrule tubes. I got a box of assorted sizes, both insulated and bare options. Small terminals and outlet socket boxes might need bare versions.

Ferrules are absolute great in the car audio world, makes amplifier cabling look neat

Could also just tin the wire tip. Ferrules are great for larger strands with higher strand count to keep from wire strands touching another connection.

As far as I know here where I live we've used them for decades on pretty much anything. At Least in the last few years since I am in in training it is the case.

When I was younger I would simply screw trough the wire mantel. Now I always use ferrells where ever I can.

We call them bootlace connectors and are supposed to use them in any situation where a flexible wire is being put under a screw terminal this isn't always possible but it's worth doing

I've found another good solution is to add some solder to the end of your wire so it becomes a solid piece
