Immanuel Kant | Transcendental Idealism | Philosophy Lectures | Lectures by Waqas Aziz
Immanuel Kant is famous for his Transcendental Idealism. Transcendental literally means things which are beyond human experience. Idealism states pure ideas of minds. Thus, Kant amalgamated both of these concepts into one Philosophy. For instance, Transcendental represents Noumena, and Idealism represents Space, Time and Twelve categories of mind. Kant explains that there are two worlds: World of Phenomena and World of Noumena. Things do exist independently in the world of Noumena. However, we cannot have direct access to Noumena. All we can perceive is the appearances of objects in the world of Phenomena. Moreover, he also states that Space and Time are only the products of mind. Space and Time do not exist independently in the external world.
