This is the last of a three part series explaining why Spain and England didn't get on in the latter half of the 16th century. This time we are looking at the importance of the Netherlands and Drake's actions at Cadiz.

it's important to point out that Elizabeth's dithering had allowed Palma to retake virtually all of the Low Countries apart from rebel held areas protected by flood waters. The protestant communities in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp were destroyed, and those who managed to avoid execution had to flee to Zeeland.
