Elizabethan Education: Early Elizabethan England

Moving on to topic three now, this is the topic where we get an idea of what life was like for ordinary people in Elizabethan England. This time we are looking at education, who got it, what did they learn, and most importantly how much did education change under Elizabeth?

This covers the Edexcel GCSE History syllabus for paper 2. It will be useful no matter which exam board you are studying though.

If Elizabeth herself was very educated, why did she not see it worthwhile that the majority of young girls were to be offered the same amount of education as the boys?
