WHERE IS THE low average ratings for literary fiction always means that it's a good one honestly. and I think people not liking novels like that because "nothing happens" or "it's negative" is a reflection of people's lack of critical thinking/analysis of media lol

I haven't read Brandon Taylor, but the direction that those reviews seem to be coming from seems to be a pretty common one and it makes me crazy. "It depicts something I'm Uncomfortable with, therefore it bad." Right.

I carefully pick whom to follow on Goodreads and then only pay attention to their reviews.

Let. Them. Know! lol I love seeing you get so fired up and passionate about the books that you love. You're so well-spoken when defending these books. I totally understand the frustration as well. It feels like some of these people just look for something other people like so they can have a "hot take" on it. 😒 They seem to be judging these books at a very surface level and that's so unfortunate because the authors clearly put SO much into them. Put some respect on these writers' names! lol Of course, Art is subjective and opinions are like belly buttons etc. At least these books are being read and discussed. Loved this! More pissed off Jaylen videos please! 😜

A lot of "there's a zero plot" Ok but doesn't mean they don't have a point or not are not interesting ? Do we really need a plot in every book ? I'm confused XD

1 star reviews make me angryyy because i feel like only objectively poorly written books deserve them (where the crawdads sing i'm looking at you). like if you just dont like the themes or the characters just give it a 2 please god. love most of these books i feel your pain

Boy he is visibly in pain. 😬😬😬 I am not a fan of Real life but it wasn't as bad as these reviews are making it to be.
