This summer semester (2016) I am giving a course on advanced quantum theory. This course is intended for theorists with familiarity with basic textbook single-particle quantum mechanics. The main objective is to understand how to study many interacting particles within QM. We will cover second quantisation, scattering theory, and some elementary relativistic quantum mechanics.

Here in Lecture 11 I discuss the degenerate electron gas.

I can see at about 49-50 minutes into the video you give excellent reasons for letting N = number of particles go to infinity, even though from a physical stand point, you know very well that 10 to the 23 or so is probably about as many as you might find. Thank you for clarifying that little bit of confusion for me. :-)

at 14:00 is the integral for the kinetic energy supposed to be over both x and y? shouldn't it just be the integral over x with both fields evaluated at x?
