Thank you Joe for showing us what you do, it is something I am just getting back into myself after having a very long break , I am a shoe string photographer, any budget is a luxury. After watching a few of your programs I am building a small but modest dark room using a (Yna 6 35 mm enlarger ) boat anchor lol, to start off with and I am building also a 4x5 camera .
i will make it out of scrap materials what ever I can find, I guess ill have to try my hand at of making a home made enlarger for the 4x5, now, I guess there is always some way around it if you put your head to it, thanks again for sharing.

This is so funny … I’ve been binging your Typewriter videos lately. I thought I should move on an do something else for a bit. Im a photographer and was just given a roll of exposed Verichrome from the 40’s, so I thought I should do a little research before jumping into the darkroom … and you are here too 😂 Thsts awesome

Rodinal (R09) 1 + 100 Semi-Stand development for one hour for all old B&W films, 20 deg.C, 2 gentle inversions at the half hour mark. If you want to use out of date B&W film, over-expose it by one stop.

I have just become really interested in film photography, I have no idea how to develop film, but im learning it from you tube, and will hopefully test it out in a darkroom myself. I'v found old film at home, probably 8 years old, apparently my mum forgot to develop them all that time ago, theres pictures of me and my cousins when we were kids and my grandma who passed in 2006.... so I hope I dont ruin this film :/

Great video! On a side note: Crystals in Rodinal (if there should be some) are a good sign, definitely not a sign it's gone wrong and they shouldn't be filtered out #justsaying

Rodinal never goes bad. HC-110 never goes bad. You likely would have been fine with either of those as well. If the HC-110 looked crusty, just agitate it for a few minutes. I’ve been semi stand developing with HC-110 that “expired” 6 years ago- seriously, it doesn’t go bad!

You can also use stand development for unknown or unlabeled old films

So, I found a Kodak Pocket Camera Series II (manufactured 1922-1931) and there was a roll of 127 Panchromatic film still in the camera. What are your thoughts on developing that film? It is potentially 100 years old!

I'm from
Brazil, I have R09 but from FOMA, very similar to rodinol, I just did
not understand the lamp at the end, and one of the people here say that
for old movies the best is to reveal 1 - 100 IN AN HOUR? I
get in my laboratory a series of old movies how should I proceed in this
case so that the coal or halo layer, leave when the revelation is
ready? Does anyone have a table with the chemicals I should use?

I'm new to old cameras, specifically Kodak box cameras. I bought some outdated b&w films, (1962-1970) ie.. tmax200, tmax400, verichrome, vp620, etc. Will the R09 work or should I use d76?

Would it still be possible to develop a film that is already from 16 years ago?
