My favorite character of the movie. Written and performed flawlessly.

Besides Patrick duh (Heath Ledger) the dad is by far the best character. Hilarious lines he gives!

Almost perfect, missing just one thing. “When you go to Sarah Lawrence, I won’t even be able to watch the game.” “… *When* I go?” “Don’t tell me you changed your mind. I already cut ‘em a cheque.” Awwww 😊

DAUGHTER: "She's a mutant, she'll never date!" DAD: Then you'll never date, ohh, I like that"....CLASSIC

“You won’t know what you want til you’re 45, and even if you get it you be too old to use it!”

Truer words…

Ok the pregnancy thing is a bit extreme but warning girls about guys' intentions when they start dating has held up really, really well

If he doesn't let them date until college, they're not going to be living at home with him when they do everything for the first time and are more likely to tell him about what they're going through. He's got great intentions, but it's a bit of a trade-off lol.

For someone who grew up with a helicopter parent, this actor nailed it on the head playing one.

I think the father saying you don’t know what you want until 45 is becoming a reality for me, 25 here..

Larry Miller nails the Shakespeare energy of the character! 🤣🤣

Haha humorous. I was a teenager when I watched this movie and thought the dads belly thing was extreme. Now that I have two daughters myself I see reasoning in the belly. I’ll make sure to do this when my daughters are ready to party in the next 5 years time

"No Drinking"
"No Drugs"
"No Kissing"
"No Tattoos"
"No Piercings"
Should have added
"No Sex"
"No Smoking"

And if i was him i would have said at the end

"I don't want any of those animal slaughters of ANY kind"

It's the little gasp Gabrielle Union gives at the mention of The Belly that gets me every time. I remember being in the cinema when this came out and the audience started laughing at that little gasp. Bloody amazing film.

I absolutely love that little smile Kat and her dad give each other after he asks her if she made anyone cry today. He was so proud of her answer.

Funny how I’m remembering him as that serial wife killer in Law & Order. That character was a bit similar to his character here, just more creepy
