You make my everyday. I used to practice relentlessly with no decent guidance. Thanks.

Keeping the finger shape is such a helpful tip! That makes so much sense! My pinky turns inward and so I have been struggling. I have looked at other videos but have never heard it taught in other videos; so good!

However, I would have loved to be able to see the left side of your violin so as to see where your thumb rests on and in relationship with your other fingers and also when you switch to each of the four strings.

Thanks for such an informative video! You are a wonderful teacher!

I've just begun your upload but already I identify with you. I am a B/Music graduate of Sydney Conservatorium in Classical Guitar Performance and took up the violin, as a second instrument, about 30 years ago. I 'FEEL' the timbre or the 'heart beat' of the note(whatever you want to call it), not just hear the note, and at 1.20 that's where I really 'hear' what you are imparting to us - NOT just teaching us, and I can't wait for the next 30 mins. Finishing the upload I feel that you are sent to impart your knowledge to those us even past 1st post, . I so I very much enjoyed your wisdom. As already said, I'm a new subscriber, to a new imparter of knowledge of the violin. Thank you,
- Mark, from Australia.

O my, that was so inspiring What a gift you have . I practice up to 5 hours a day, and still have not made much progress, but now after watching this video, I think I know why, I have been changing strings many times trying to get, that lovely sound, how wrong have I been, so now I will follow you lead, If I shut my eyes and listen to you play, this must be, the sound that GOD wanted us to hear, have a wonderful day, from Murray down here in NewZealand

You have a wonderful way of teaching!

I’m not sure who your primary audience is… but a few ideas:

1. Critical listening is obviously the foundation of improving anything.
What does that mean?

Ultimately it’s about feeling vibration.

The perfect ring is vibrational resonance.

People can learn to feel this… even if they’ve never played an instrument before ( I’d imagine this is at least a portion of your audience).

Keep up the great work and thanks!! I played semi professionally and got my masters in violin performance, before going into teaching tennis :)

I still play the violin, and its channels like yours that inspire me to take it out of its case and enjoy making music

Thank you!! I started using your tips and they have really worked. I used to start by finding the tuning by the B on the A string, but I had trouble finding the E. Now, using the finger "family" method, it become simpler ^^

Great video!!
