Robert Morris Claims Jesus Taught Tithing

Robert Morris has made millions by preaching lies and deceiving people into thinking they have to tithe and give money to his church. He is a false teacher and a phoney. In this video false teacher Robert Morris tricks his gullible audience into thinking that Jesus commanded Christians to tithe. He ignores the context of Jesus words and his audience just has no idea because they don’t read their bibles. If the church he was preaching to read their bibles for themselves they would be able to see that Jesus was speaking to the scribes and Pharisees and the scribes and Pharisees were Jews living in the promised land under the Old Covenant. Even a child could see this but no one in Robert Morris’s church seems to realise this. Why? Because they are spiritually lazy and won’t study the Bible for themselves. Instead they rely on false teachers like Robert Morris.

If pastors today emphasized on repentance the way they emphasize on tithing there would be less false converts today.

Those rock-concert remodelings of churches here in the US aren't going to pay for themselves!

If only "preachers" would be as adamant about telling followers to witness to the unsaved as they are about tithing.

I have to admit that as a former Charismatic teacher and preacher, I once preached this very thing. Then one day, I did an intense study on tithing. I had to adjust my position. I don't always agree with you, but I agree 100 percent with you here. Technically, the gospels are not NEW TESTAMENT. Jesus had not died yet. As you stated, the New Covanant was not in force yet. Jesus would not have told the Pharisees NOT to keep Torah. What people fail to ask is why does tithe/tithing never show up in Paul's writings? Hebrews 7 literally says the Levitical carnal command of receiving of tithes was made void. The tithing message is the core of the Charismatic belief system. It's just flat out not Biblical.

So should everyone take him our first lamb, our first calf, grain and vegetables etc so that we can have a big feast together? That's what a tithe was - not money! 😂

Yeshua spoke about giving to the poor, not giving to a Church.

'You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household.' Deuteronomy 14:26

I went to a church in East Mesa AZ form 5 months, trying to make friends and hear the word of God, then the pastor decided to live stream this demon Robert Morris, and he preached his typical manipulative "you have to tithe or else" sermon. That was it, I never went back.

Boy they all must be hurting financially all the begging and manipulation, people would just check and see how much they're worth they would stop giving these greedy selfish thieves their money.

The giving of tithes should definitely not be done because it's a legalistic obligation. Christians who give tithes should do so out of gratitude and a loving relationship with Jesus. Christians who don't give tithes should bear in mind that Jesus emphasized that a life under the new covenant must meet a higher standard than a life under the law. An example of this is when Jesus talks about adultery in Matthew 5:27-28: "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Believers are thus called to maintain a higher standard under the new covenant in Jesus than the expectation was under the old covenant. This also applies to giving tithes and generosity.

Not only was the tithe never money, Leviticus says you can buy back your tithes by adding an extra 20% of its value. Imagine going to Morris and asking to buy back what you paid him, since buying money with money makes no sense.

It's evident that Robert Morris and his followers love money more than they love Jesus and the poor

My friend and I are incredibly stubborn and we went back and forth on this for days. I presented my arguments and he still disagreed, without even making any rebuttals based on scripture. These are the points I used and many of them line up with the video.

Why the Bible doesn’t teach Tithing for us Today
1.Tithing is never mentioned in regard to money, it only refers to grain, soil, fruit, and animals; even though they had and used currency in the Old Testament and the New Testament. (Luke 11:42) (2 Chronicles 31:5) (Leviticus 6:14-23) (Leviticus 27:30)( 2 Chronicles 31:5)

2.Tithing is never mentioned after Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection when the New Covenant was made, it is mentioned only beforehand with the Pharisees while they were still under the Old Testament Law. (Luke 11:42)( Matthew 23:23)

3.Tithing when calculated came up to around 20%-23% instead of 10%, this was a result of the Levitical Tithe, Festival Tithe (for religious festivals), and the poor tithe (every 3 years to foreigners, orphans, and widows) (Numbers 18:21-24) (Deuteronomy 14:22-27) (Deuteronomy 14:28-29)

4.Sacrificial Giving is what replaced tithing, under the new grace that we are in, thanks to The New covenant brought about by Christ crucifixion and resurrection. (Matthew 5:17) (2 Corinthians 9:7) (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15)

5. We are Gentiles so the Old Testament laws which include tithing don't even apply to us.( Galatians 3:23–25) (Ephesians 2:15)

I used to go Morris's Church (Gateway) but after attending a event by Justin Peters (Clouds without Water I believe), along with other Youtube channels like these, I stopped going and have become more vigilant, and somewhat suspicious of people who call themselves pastors in todays age. From my perspective, it is either ignorance or deliberate, and if you are purposefully misleading people when it comes to tithing then how I can trust you with everything else. I now refer to a majority of these people as motivational speakers. I don't know if they were ever present but the days are gone when you can trust someone to speak and teach on God's word. Now, its just wiser and safer to be like the Bereans and take responsibility of what you are reading and hearing instead of solely relying on others.

Tithing is giving, simply. In my case, before I had attended a church after being saved, the Lord put on my heart to tithe 10% of my net income. I'm not saying all should tithe 10% but I know the Lord leads His people to give back. Why? Because it is not only more blessed to give but it is also a trust issue. If you feel you should give but are reluctant because you fear running short, this is an issue you need to take to the Lord. Luke 21:1-4, "And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins. 3 And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; 4 for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.” She put in all because she trusted the Lord to provide. We are all born sinners and so into poverty. If you can't give out of your surplus, give of your time to help others.

Let's all show up to Robert Morris' church next week with bushels of produce in addition to goats, cows, chickens, etc. and tell him we are bringing the tithe...

While we are there we could ask him what he did with the priests and the Levites the tithes are supposedly being used to support...

Twisting scripture to put guilt on people to get MONEY! I am so sick of these Churches and Pastors.. I dont go to church anymore, Maybe to see some other believers. I believe in "giving to the poor", and as long as you do that, God will Bless you!
