AMD’s Ryzen 7000 CPU With 3D-V Cache Coming WHEN?!

Today in the news, RDNA 3 gets a new chip, it smells like 3D-V cache is back and more. What is up guys I’m snows and this is your boot sequence.

Let’s talk AMD CPUs. The Zen 3 architecture made its debut back in what? 2020 I think on the desktop market? We got the Ryzen 5950X, 5900X 5800X, and 5600X all at once. Fast forward about 6 months to Computex 2021, and AMD decides to tease us with their new technology, 3D V Cache. Initially, they teased it on the 5900X and it freaking gave the chip close to 200 MB of cache and also, a healthy boost of about 15% in gaming performance. In the end though, about a whole year later, AMD settled on adding this technology to the 5800X to get what we now know as the 5800X3D. Still a gaming monster at a specific resolution, but not the 5900X3d that I would have hoped. So it took a whole year and a half to see this thing coming together. Will we have to wait as long for the next generation? Nope. Apparently, we’re going to see that happen this year.

This was kind of missed during the financial analyst day from AMD but it's pretty clear. Take a listen.

So essentially, we’ll barely have to wait . the zen 4 architecture is slated to release in the fall of this year. Some say mid-September, but the official word is just in fall. Since Sahid Mosheklani said that Ryzen 7000 with 3D V Cache would be featured later this year, we can either look at it as AMD teasing the product this year, or launching it outright.

I mean the added cache on the 5800X3D Clearly has a huge impact on a lot of games, and I could see it being a quick and easy performance upgrade for a 6 and 8 cores CPU in the future generations. I just hope that more than one chip will have it. [...]

Just bought 2 of the 5800X3D for gaming rigs. Got them for $329.99.

Has AMD said what the expected life of the AM5 platform is? Is there going to be many generations on it like AM4?

Ryzen 7000 series is 100% DDR5 memory ??? no compatibility with DDR4 right ?

AMD is on a winning streak that probably has Intel not sleeping well. I wonder what happened to the CEO at Intel that said AMD will be in their "rearview mirror". XD

I can't wait for the Zen 5 Threadrippers! C'mon, AMD, unleash the overclock-enabled 8-channel beast!

How many Ryzen 7000 sku's do you think should have 3D-V cache?
-yes.

I wish ps5 waited for zen 3 5800x or with 5800x3D. Prob wouldn’t been enough room for 3D cache and RDNA2 gpu.
AMD is is just killing. Still happily gaming on 2700x. At some point may upgrade to 5800x.

I have a feeling the 7000 series 3d VCache comes out in 2023 against Meteor Lake.
I bet he mis-spoke. Saying this year instead of next year.

Would have been great if they made it default on x800x and x900x and maybe a smaller one on x700x.

i feel like it will be revealed in the fall but released in march

Ryzen 7000x3d CPU’s with (if memory serves) rdna2 graphics, hopefully they might be very interesting for 1080p gaming a good entry level setup maybe

Yeah, I would have also liked to have seen it added to the 5900X and 5950X !

I wouldn't expect AMD to announce much less launch v-cache chips this fall. I expect them to wait until after Intel launches at a minimum but probably late spring early summer.

IMHO

I mean, Navi 31 isnt the top end die, that would be Navi 30. Rememer, with the 40CU 5700XT, there was actually an 80CU enterprise card, and with the 80CU 6900xt, there is actually a 120CU card for enterprise.
Now AMD claim these dies do not support video out, though i beleive they still have ROPs much like the Nvidia A100, i think the limitation on not being able to be used for games, is purely board+BIOS/driver limited.
If you can use it to render a scene in a video, it can be used for a video game, fi you remove the artifical locks

I don't get why vcache chiplets plus external GDDR6 would be better/cheaper than just HBM3. Manufacturing cost would probably be higher and bandwidth would be worse in at least some compute applications.

3d cache is AMD middle lifetime update, just like with Zen3
But who knows...
