Served in the Army for 9 years and never once met an Infantryman that wished he could carry a heavier rifle LoL.

As a veteran I think it's a bad idea. I've seen comparisons between that and an M4 as far as weight and length is concerned. It's an equivalent to the M1 in those concerns. In modern warfare soldiers need to light and mobile and have a weapon that is good at close quarters and out to 200 yards. The M4 does all that and more. We already have AR variants to counter the ballistic shortcomings of the 5.56. Don't know why they didn't adopt the 300 blackout or even the AR 10 platform in 7.62 for that matter.

I can't wait to see this weapon as a forgotten weapons video after the army learns the same lesson it did after adopting the M14:

You don't need a 1000 YEEERRRRDDD rifle for general infantry use. This rifle was brought about by old fudds in charge who never liked 5.56 and just wanted a ONE SHOT STAWPLIN POWAH 1000 YEEERRRRDDDSSS battle rifle again.

I like it! It does look heavy, but so was the Garand and we all know how wonderfully well that worked out.

I can remember when I was stationed in Hawaii, in a light unit. I was in a light sapper company, and I think I speak for every light unit when I say, NO ONE WANTS MORE WEIGHT TO CARRY

The stars have finally aligned. Kneel before the most front heavy infantry rifle ever designed. I am humbled

The army calls it a "game changer", and at its price point, I sure hope it is.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of this decision can we all just agree that it’s a awesome high quality and gorgeous looking gun?
I don’t know if it’s the right call for the military, but what I do know is that I personally want one.

What's interesting to me is that it's a battle rifle and not an assault rifle. Many infantry in Afghanistan complained that the 5.56mm didn't have the range for some of the engagements they found themselves in (though I can't help but question whether or not their own ability to be accurate would've been sufficient enough to warrant a cartridge with improved range anyway). Now that we've left Afghanistan and are preparing for potential war with the PRC in the west pacific, an environs ideal for the intermediate cartridge... we're finally adopting what some of our troops wanted in Afghanistan. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to arm ourselves for the last conflict we were in and not the one we're expecting, but what do I know?

I also wanted to note, if you get the chance to fire the civilian version, it is a .308 rifle, not chambered in the .277 (6.8x51mm) "Fury" cartridge that the military version is supposed to use. So even if you get your hands on it to do some testing, it'll be even more different from what the troops are using than the M4 is from the AR15, making any sort of comparison very difficult.

May be heavier, but apparently somebody is wearing bulletproof vests that this weapon will handle.🤠

Thanks for the video. Is that in 556 or 6.8??

Me having AR platforms, but not liking the AR platform, it just looks like another AR to me.

Not for me I like the M4 styled AR15 in the smaller caliber but if our favorite sons want it than let Uncle Sm provide those.

Noticeably heavier and very very noticeably more expensive. Dead is dead, they don't make you any more dead than an M4. If the military wanted better range and Terminal ballistics they should have simply gone back to an M16A4 type, it Probably weighs less also not to mention the logistical Benefits and huge savings to the tax payer.

All guns should have a trigger warning, otherwise how would we know how to properly fire it?

Heavier than the M4? Going the wrong direction for infantry. Maybe we are buying them for the Ukrainians lol.

It'd be a great replacement for the M110A1. It's a terrible replacement for the M4.
