I love it. I managed a camera store from the early 90’s until 2013 & it makes me happy that people are shooting with older digital & film cameras. I love my ccd point & shoots/digicams.

The ”gap decade” of compact digital cameras between the end of the compact film camera era and start of the phone camera era is inspiring to revisit.

Not sure if this is the trend in Europe too but buying a point and shoot camera does have its own charm compared to photos taken from smartphones.

Don't point those pocket cameras at the sun. The sensors have a shelf life. And anything with a zoom will pull pocket lint back into the camera and it will wind up on the sensor. Permanently. So, make something to fix that. A liner, etc.

Digital cameras get you HD photos actually. Digital cameras never went away. We've been using HD digital cameras for three decades.

phone cameras makes your memories look small and worthless when you film things with camera it's like freezing the time and keeping your memorie. the pictures that a camera gives you will walways look better

Hi, I’m Jaden Muñiz, and I’m a Gen Z kid. But right now the digital camera I have actually takes good photos. It used to be that when the smartphone era first peaked out, camera companies thought of continuing to sell their point and shoots by changing the design to make it more sleek, just like a car. But that failed, and no more point and shoots are made anymore. I have a red Canon Powershot SX620 HS that came out in May 2016 right now and soon I will also have a silver Nikon Coolpix S6500 from January 2013. The quality is not as good but the reason why I wanted both cameras is because they sparked an amazing memory from when I used my school’s copies of both cameras for the 8th grade yearbook!

I’m confused. These photos are blurry. P&S camera were awful lol. These people just don’t know how to use them. It’s the film look that’s loved with CCD cameras. My CX7530 is from 2004 and it takes sharp photos with a classic old school look.

The trouble with phone cameras is that you only have the option of digital zoom which degrades the quality of the photo but a half decent proper digital camera has optical zoom allowing the same function as digital zoom without picture quality loss
Plus a lot of apps can read the photos on your micro SD so they aren't private not like on a proper camera the pro to using a phone camera are having a larger screen to view the photos on as an average digital camera has a 2.5 inch screen compared to the average mobile that has about a 6 inch screen but as of yet I don't know of any phone camera that has a self timer function so that you can be I'm the photo if you set it up on a tripod because most modern tripods do come with a smart phone adapter to mount on them

Might also have something to do with this type of old tech is really cheap, at least for now. Digicams that went for $120 when they came out can be had for like $20..and 35mm ffilm cams can be had for $10 or under.

I want to grow by exploring, appreciating and treasuring all the moments of my life. I badly want to have an digital camera or recorder but as of now, my parents won't allow me because its too expensive, and hoping that I can enhace my skills in photography and filming .

This is why manufacturers still need to make point and shoot cameras. No matter what the tech community says, you cannot replace a point and shoot camera with a phone until we a start seeing 1 inch sensors or greater on all lenses.

Im glad they are. The picture quality to me is so much better on actual digital cameras than phones
