Did Jesus Abolish the Law?

Yes and no. Today we look at the "no" part. Jesus didn't simply come to obey the Law of Moses (though He did obey it perfectly), He came to embody the righteousness revealed by the Law. That's what He meant in Matthew 5:17-20, which we look at in today's study.

Always appreciate your take!

I remember in a past podcast when you took the other views on v 18-19. I definitely think 18 refers to the cross, but which commands He's talking about is harder to parse. I suppose deferring to DA Carson is a reasonably safe bet...

With regards to Matthew 5:18, is it not the case that the Law is still in place and applicable to the non-Christian and will never fall away as this is what all non believers will be judged on( and will fall short).

But the believer has a new Covenant (contract) we don't fall under this contract (Covenant) and thus the law does not apply to us. But this is of course just available through faith in Jesus Christ by the Grace of God.
