I had to alter the registry on an old laptop in order to get a piece of professional audio software to work. I was a bit scared as i did it, even though I'd spent previous years working as an i.t. tech guy. But it fixed the issue & i used the program with no issues for the next several years.

Nonetheless, I'd still think twice before tinkering with the registry; backup, system restore point prior to doing it, etc.

Even Microsoft does not support registry cleaners. If you are not computer savvy, just leave the registry alone

Almost all "mainstream" antivirus suites include a registry maintenance program that looks for and removes unlinked or defunct registry entries so manual registry editing really is a thing of the past.

One day in order to "change" my username, I had gone to the registry on advice of some random internet guy & changed a few keys. When I rebooted, I was welcomed by the windows first boot animation, a blank desktop all zero programs. Luckily I could change the keys back to normal & my data was saved. It still haunts me to this day.

Makes sense to me. I’m not a pro, just a regular user, although I know some tricks, yet not on some advanced level, especially deeper, like this one with registry. Love to learn more, though.

I usually use, occasionally, CCleaner and have been using actively IObit software. Just couple of them for protection, cleaning, drivers and software. Very happy with it, does what is supposed to be done.

The only thing I’ve never done, and one of the reasons is due to potential consequences, is updating firmware, coz if there is a mistake during the process, it can damage the hardware.
Sorry if I am expressing myself incorrectly, but hope it is understandable 😅

Thank you again for another useful video, sir 🫡

I give portable software preference over installable software, specially when I have a low-end capability computer. Less registry entries.

Something I have noticed regarding the Windows Registry, is that there seems to be a lot of redundancy. Does one application really need ten or more "keys" and "values" all pointing to the same location? And creating folders and never using those folders? But everything has a Registry entry. Not all Apps are coded by responsible "engineers".

Yeah, if you don't know what you're doing, leave the registry alone. lol
