Barbara Lewis had probably the most hypnotic female voice in pop music history

I have always thought this was the most moody and haunting piece of music to emerge from the 60s. It is a beautiful song, both musically and lyrically, and sung so well by a great singer.

Barbara Lewis has a voice that is timeless and brings back so many memories. We just don't have anyone that can sing like her anymore. Wonderful words that touch your soul. Love you Barbara!!

She wrote this song from her experience walking with her father around town when she was young stopping in to see his friends who would say *hello stranger seems like a long time* love it!

There’s just some pure and wonderful about this recording. I wish she knew we are all still listening. I was a toddler when she first recorded this. Her voice was just incredible

What a voice.. we sung it right along with the record .. I was in the 5th grade at the time .. now I’m 67… but music was big part of black folks culture.. everywhere you went someone had a radio, record player.. and those long cabinet stereo with combination stereo eight track came later.. what time.. thanks to you tube.. The bass in this song is so amazing. As a child I would “move” to the exact notes

This is a Soul Classic. Hearing this song since I was a child when my mother and her friends would sit and have drinks on Holidays and Sunday’s in the early 70’’s in Guyana 🇬🇾.
