Love how he started explaining things to finally make it more clear

I think volume is also important. Let's say you increase weight and can only do 2-3 reps with the new weight, then going for a drop set would be beneficial.

I’m just happy he’s finally doing more explanations. Thank you and please keep it up! 🎉

Great advice. Also, prefer the videos of you talking. Very well spoken and clear.

The first video from this dude i like, educating instead of making fun of people. Keep it going 👍

One tip is to increase the weight such that you'll still be in the 5-7 rep range. If you increase too much and you only manage 2-4 reps on that new weight, you will be doing too little volume (assuming you work out 3x a week). You could just do more sets, but i would rather just do a smaller increase in weight.

For compound exercises I like to shoot for the 6-8 rep range. Also having a tracker app helps 1000%

It sucks when you can do 12 reps one week but can only do 8 the next

Another thing to break through stubborn plateaus especially with dumbbells is to to choose a heavy weight that you need to use some momentum with for 4-5 reps. Do this for a set or two then continue your normal sets with a lighter weight where you can normally do 10-12. If you can only get 8-10 because of the energy used for the heavy weights, that’s fine.

Increased my hammer curls with slight momentum from 15kg after over 2 years of training to 30kg with fair amount of momentum in a few months. 20kg is as easy as 15kg was. Only when I could rep 15kg I couldn’t even lift 20kg with monentum

I'm happy to have my own plans validated by this video. I've been back at the gym for 3 weeks now for the first time in 15 years. Week 3 of consistent exercise 3 times a week and I've managed up to about half of my exercises by around 5kg on each resistance machine. Now I have more strength back I'm slowly switching exercises over to free weights also to really target certain muscles and I'm happy to see small improvements being made every week using exactly this type of method for determining my training.

Ive been increasing the weight when i can do 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps comfortably which i think is what has been working best for me

Exactly what I've been doing the past year and seeing great results in my lifts.

I'm 50 and have never committed myself to the gym until now for the last 8 months. Watching your videos I have realized why I'm not getting any gains. Been doing too much cardio ( cycling 28.5 km 4-5 days a week) and my technique while lifting has been all wrong. Thanks for the videos and knowledge. Time to restart my goals. Feeling fit from cardio but no strength or muscle gains😂😅😂

Good approach. 60 yrs ago, the program we applied was with barbell 3 sets, 10 reps at weight X, 8 reps with X + 10lbs and at least 6 reps with X + 20lbs on 3rd set. When 3rd set could be done 10 reps, increase starting weight 10 lbs.

Usually, we advanced to heavier starting weights once a week.

Yay, I love the explanation at the end. Keep this format and your shorts won't be as confusing.

Another pretty good idea is start with volume then go heavy. It’s important to warm up before hitting heavy, I say do two sets of lower weight but high volume, then go to heavier weights and apply threshold.

Thanks! I keep increasing weight for my inclined dumbbell press, but I’m still able to get to 15 reps, even though my goal threshold is like 5-7. For some reason I keep holding myself back by saying things like, “Oh, 30 lbs is too heavy. Don’t even try. You’re going to embarrass yourself when you can’t lift them.”
