Excellent review Rodney! To be honest, I think your Macbook is more interesting to me, then your Microsoft Surface notebook. While I am not a big fan of Apple, I have to give them credit, they are known for making some quality built machines, that are made for studio use. Even back when I was in school, MAC desktop machines were primarily used for both schooling, and for video production use. The Macbook M2 will need time to prove itself, and I have a feeling its going to be a few months before that happens.

My biggest issue Apple products is all the trouble they give repair shops and how they control each aspect of their platform. Getting better with EU laws passing, but still a long way to go.

Apple has always made good products if you can buy into their platform, but the platform is very closed off.

I got my m1 w/16gb/1tb last month for my birthday. 1st timer too. It's fast as hell -- and if you're an iphone user, ipad user or anything apple, their ecosystem is polished. Their new MacOS will be nice too. I'm not even thinking about the M2, not for what I do.

A certain Startech dock will allow you multiple displays. You may need to install their Display Link software, but it works. I've been working on these the past while getting them sorted for corporate use The M1 Air makes the 2019 16" Pro feel slow. If the software you use is made for the M1 chip it's a dandy machine, outside of that it's a bit meh. Rosetta works, but obviously a bit slow and gaming is hit or miss. At least it can be charged via a standartd USB-C able... that needs to be attached to an Apple charger, unless it's a certain Startech dock then it's ok. The terminal needs a bit of updating but it's serviceable. But it goes to show up how far Linux and Windows have come since then in regards to PowerShell/Command Prompt and Terminal.

I've tried MacOS, and I just can't get along with it, I'd rather use Android, or a good Linux distro like Solus w/Budgie DE.

By commands do you mean key-combination shortcuts? If so then you could delve into autohotkey to do even more.

Wow apple is Raid 0ing SSDs? I am heavily considering the open source Framework laptop but I wonder if it is feasible to run Windows on an M1/M2. Got to have a touch screen.

Does the M1 have a setting to limit battery charge to say, 80% to increase longevity?

The M1/M2 stuff is amazing. I get 'actual' all day battery life, amazing screen, and great performance. The stuff like the instant wake up is amazing too, and it has not slowed down since purchase. I cannot go back to intel/windows. I am forced to use that for my gaming PC and it feels like I'm using bloated rubbish from 10 years ago. If Linux/Mac gaming ever becomes a proper thing, where all games are available, then I will be so happy to dump Windows. I hate it and it gets worse with every release.
