Minecrafts MYSTERY NEW SLATE BLOCK + Potential Next Drop Release Date!

Minecraft Winter Drop Update has gotten real spicy looking this week thanks to the new resin block family and eyeblossom flowers. In the Bedrock Preview 1.21.50.25 that implemented all of this to the game many other secret smaller changes slipped thru the cracks. Today lets talk about those, the future of Minecraft VR and MR, and the strange slate item.

Slate is from education edition
May just be error that it is normal as it usually has 2 bigger versions
Also it had editing before signs did

Resin bricks and regular bricks line up perfectly. But because the regular bricks are outlined with a lighter color compared to its darker bricks, and the resin bricks are outlined with a darker color compared to its lighter bricks, it makes them look unaligned.

The specific reason why this happens is because light colors expand while dark colors contract. The lighter colored bricks of the resin expand and its dark outlines contract, while the opposite happens to the regular bricks. The dark line on top of the resin bricks also make it look shorter, while the light line on top of the bricks make it look taller.

PSA: The Slate is NOT coming to Java or Bedrock. Due to a bug in Minecraft Bedrock it is incorrectly showing up in Non-Education Toggled Creative Inventories. Do NOT get too excited.

It appears that they either accidentally brought in this block from Minecraft education edition I don’t think this late is supposed to be in vanilla

I think that the reason the resin and normal bricks din't appear to line up is the coloration. With resin, nether and red nether bricks, the edge of the brick or the "cement" of it is darker than the actual brick, whereas the normal brick block's cement is lighter than the brick itself. So technically, they do line up, it just appears wonky because of the color.

I think the slate is gonna be a stone version of the sign as a slate irl is what people in the early AD used to write on

This is basically a new clay set. It has a ball form, a block form, a brick form, and all the associated blocks...except for smelted block form, like clay -> terracotta. I feel like they should add that.

the slate feels like a mistake of an addition more than anything tbh, because education edition is also based on bedrock right??? (this is what i am going to regard it as anyway, that someone just goofed up lol. that way there'll be less disappointment if i am right, and a pleasant surprise if i am wrong and they are adding those edu edition chalkboards to the other versions)

Hot take…. If this slate block isn’t just something for educational edition. I think it should have a different design to separate it from both the educational version referred to as “slates” and regular signs. Perhaps instead make it a stone tablet. You could make it so they are chiseled into the different rock variants and either resemble a plaque on a solid wall or as a free standing tablet without a post. Think very tombstone in design. But hey that’s just me.

10:10 that block is called the unknown block. Loading a block with an incorrect ID in any world results in it being replaced by an unknown block, although it retains its ID. The ID is not retained upon being broken. Often caused by corruption or force opening a world of a higher version than the client, as the game does not recognize the id of newer blocks. That is why the bedrock edition doesn't recognise the ID of that slate block because it is from minecraft education edition.

The slate is obviously just a bug from Education Edition, but having 3 different sized signs would be really cool for the normal game. Right now we just have signs for short messages, or Lecterns for long messages, but those have to be clicked on to be seen.
