They are getting experience in modern warfare. Just like Russia is and eventually China will. China had troops in Belarus recently this summer. Ukraine is using M1A Abrams tanks and other equipment which NK and others of the alliance want experience in defeating and dealing with. Folks China, Russia, North Korea and Iran are all in an alliance now.

Easy combat experience for a country that hasn’t fought since 1953

The "CBS News senior national security correspondent" Charlie D'Agata has a big title and a very small understanding. It's a shame for CBS News.

I think they are going to learn about modern warfare, because they have not fought in a war in many years, or possibly just more cannon fodder to use in the trenches instead of using Russians.

Most people in the comments have zero warfare IQ and it shows. Russia isnt putting forthbits best effort on ukraine which should be obviois and North Korean trrops being sent to Ukraine is more for experience in modern warfare tactics to properly equip them with knowledge needed in the case they are in a direct conflict with an adversary.

It will be interesting on how many regular North Korean soldiers will defect. The North Koreans, for men, serve for 10 years. If you go to college, they serve for 5 years. If they get an engineering or science degree, they serve only for 3 years and work for the state.

Why would this be an issue? South Korea deploys their troops to where US troops deploys. A significant number of South Korean troops were deployed to Vietnam and fought on the side of the US.
