M8 x 1.25 bolts to remove drums. Great video. I recommend lubricating the bumps on backing plate where shoes pivot as they can bind up if not lubed. 👏

Dude! Thank you so much! You totally demystified drum brakes for me. After I watched your vid, I bought some shoes and knocked the job out in 35 minutes. You're the best. Thanks.

My god I’ve been searching for a video like this for ages, this is perfect thank you so much included everything you need to know and was done at such a pace I could just follow along without pausing!

Very good video, thanks very much. I've been hunting for nearly an hour to find out which way the fork on each side of the adjuster goes in.
You are the only one I've found who actually mentioned the correct way for each fork. Great stuff.

Quite good video. I’ve seen a couple of movies before this one and they were crap, the blokes were explaining things very briefly. You did it very well, step by step, showed what goes where, in right order. I’ll do mine soon. Thanks.

One of the better Yaris rear brakes tutorial. Short and to the point. I don't agree with getting cheap brake pads, but the video is spot on. Thanks

Thank you...I now understand why disc brakes came about.

I did it today, no problems, thanks for the video! My understanding is that the brakes are self adjusting, so I set the adjust to the shortest length and let er rip!

Not really having back brake issues. I just no longer have e-break so I'm going to do this job because that way I can replace the pads and just be done with it.

The spring hardware should be replaced every time shoes are replaced because they lose tension over time. Also a good idea to replace the adjuster apparatus too, especially if you live in the salt-belt. Might add another $40 to the job, but if you’re going to spend time doing the job, do it right the first time. I usually go as far as replacing the brake cylinders too if vehicle has over 150k miles. Need to use anti-seize grease on the backing plate where the shoes touch; don’t get grease on the actual shoe material that comes in contact with the drum. Bleed the brakes if you change the wheel cylinders.

Great video very informative, will help me do the rear shoes on my sons car. Question. Shouldn't the shoes automatically adjust themselves when you replace them with new ones without having to manually do it like you show?

Great video and I would have not thought about installing the adjuster in last.

Note Yaris are rock solid cars 🚗 and I have 359K miles. This is a commuter car in N. Cal.

Do you have any vids for Yaris rear shocks?

How do you attach the lever system to the second break shoe is there a pin or something that holds it?
