"daddy would get killed if she ever told anyone"

We can only hope...

As someone who had my underage shaming photographed and distributed, I think this defender drastically underestimates the harm of "just looking at a picture". 50 years sounds a bit much when the offenders themselves RARELY get that.

I remember a guy back from high school back in the 90's. Never liked him and he always hung with the wrong crowd. Well, years later after finishing college, I heard through the grapevine that he was arrested for trying to steal the lights and siren off the roof of a cop car. It gets better, when he appeared before the judge, his attorney was nowhere in sight. Judge asked where his lawyer was and he replied, having lunch. That's how much his lawyer cared about him. Yes, this happened!

My mom was designated to defend this guy from an old fashion town she still works in.
The man (M) went to a guy's house (G) to kill him because G had killed M's brother. G wasn't there, but G's brother was. So he killed G's brother.
The whole town knew what was going on, everybody saw it as 'getting even'. Except the judge ofc

Worked as a building manager which rented a floor to a PD office, some people were so regular I built up a rapport with them. Usually drug dealers looking nothing like the harden, tattooed skinheads you imagine but just a dude in jeans and a hoodie selling weed to students. Try to sell me some weed to me (I politely declined) but one time I saw two regulars and a new guy, as soon as I turned up the new guy was called in to talk to the PD.

Found out from the regulars he was up for domestic and sexual abuse of a minor, when he left the office (escorted by police) he sickening me to my stomach! I grew up thinking drug dealers were monsters but here I am having a chat with a crack dealer and heroin dealer while a TRUE monster is talking to the PD about committing the most vile crimes that a person can commit!

My mum has many attorney friends, because she was a videographer. One day she had to go to court to video and saw her friend there. Typically that would be normal but the case was of a thirty-year old guy who had a twelve year old wife and s*z tapes of it. When she asked what happened he admitted that he was forced to have the case. No one else would take it and he was sick the day the guy came to his law firm, so he got stuck with it.

The ones where the client is abhorrent but the law is not playing fair (the possession vs dealing one in particular) are fascinating.

There is a reason vigilantes are illegal. Because there is a pretty easy way to get ahold of a list of who deserves to lose their rights to working kneecaps and making sure to do research to find out who only ended up on that list because the 17 year old's parents didn't like the 19 year old boyfriend.
