Not about the causes of autism, but what autism causes - in the healthcare system. Yona Lunksy shares how to improve health care access for people with autism spectrum disorder.

Yona Lunsky (PhD, C. Psych) is a clinical scientist in Adult Neurodevelopmental Services at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, as well as an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES). She directs the Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities Program (H-CARDD) and has extensive experience conducting clinical and health systems in the field of developmental disabilities. She has a strong interest in mental health care policy and practice issues related to this population, and in developing innovative approaches to assist families and staff in their caregiving role.

Thank you for this. I had and have many-many problems, and they get multiplified, when I have to visit an ER. I got misdiagnosed, mistreated and neglected and I am right now going through another ordeal. I have to go through a liver biopsy and I am terrified - not because of the biopsy, because I am autistic. I will suffer ugly things when I tell about it and also if not. I am afraid I will die one day maybe because of neglect or drugged in some psychiatric "home", because the colleagues lack of knowledge about autism. ( I work as a doctors assistant.)
This has to be adressed, and this video is maybe a good start.

Yona is not a very nice supervisor. I've had the opportunity to work with her as a research assistant. She belittled me the entire time and hovered over me like a hawk. She appears nice in these videos, but please think twice before working with this supervisor...
