The gates of hell one is actually historically accurate. A sulfur pit opened up near a village in England and the noises that came out of it sounded like screams(It was just gas escaping the enclosed cravse). Someone actually built a castle over it.

Completely agree, the supernatural events in ck3 should reflect superstitions or stories of the middle ages, it simultaneously makes it feel like a actual medival game while also not going over board with the fantasy aspect

We need Marco Polo back, followed by a chess match with death.

Bring back Glitterhoof please
He's the best councilor, and a real 'pal'omino

UFOs aren't supernatural though? I'm watching this video from one rn

The sleep thing was that it was generally considered (mostly by the upper classes of western europe) that sleeping flat on your back imitated death so would invite death. As such people slept sleeping slightly sat up. Interestingly, sleeping like that can actually help people with sleep apnea, which is a condition that can kill you in your sleep.

I like the idea of “superstition” type supernatural events, but maybe a toggle for straight-up supernatural stuff could be fun as well.

No, only toggle. 😤 That way if you want it silly you can have it silly, if you want it realistic you can have it realistic! I miss my immortal Chinese empress whose daughter was revealed to be a bear in disguise at her wedding feast.

I think they should make it a toggle between no supernatural content, "historical" supernatural content (like Cara said) and all supernatural content, like some wacky shit

I agree, I'd rather have subtle content which reflects the magical thinking of some people of old than outright supernatural stuff.

I like this belief supernatural stuff a lot more tbh, ck2 is very silly but i do also like to roleplay psuedo historically, and its really distracting when satan decides to claw his way out of hell to fuck with me slightly bsheheheh

People worried about realism in CK3 when you have two dozen champions killing an average of 100+ men each in an afternoon with zero casualties.

Thats exactly the philosophy they had with the supernatural content in ck2. It was realistic from the perspective of someone living in that era and the kind of things they believed to be real

That’s a good point. Paradox games follow how people saw the world in the time period they take place in, right?

That sleeping thing is something that I swear every kid has felt in their life

im a fan of the horned god witchery stuff for exactly this reason; its really just a bunch of nerds partying in the woods sharing knowledge

It would be really fun to have some small stellaris crossover, where you're on the other side of some events with primitives

i think they should do it like i’ve seen with the “troll attacks” that are actually just a bear or wolves; something spooky that the commoners can’t explain and come asking for help from their lord with, who of course themself could be educated in the spiritual and would thus lead to cooler events/interractions

I totally agree on this one. We’re talking about medieval world here… superstitions were prevalent during this times.
