Why I Prefer CK2

Whenever I say I prefer CK2 to CK3, those who agree with me cite wacky supernatural events, but that's not it. CK2 is just fun. It doesn't hurt that I actually know what I'm doing in CK2.

Edit 2025/03/21: CK3 has been growing on me lately. I no longer agree with every point made in this video, especially the conclusion that "CK3 bad CK2 good", though I do still like CK2 more. Might make a new video properly comparing and contrasting the two games, idk.

Ck2 nomads were wild, i remember doing a world conquest as the khazars and "pillaging" all the holdings in the world. I wish there was a medieval UN to stop me.

CK2 - I claim descendence from Pharaoh Yakub the Great of Upper Uralic Hyperborea. He built a great pyramid to honour his schizophrenic horse lover, after that he invented a firearm and used it to 1v1 a polish Shia assassin bear in Pakistan. Truly a Great man from a great generation.

CK3 - Uuhm larp gooning religioon crafting, nsfw mods - just 2 more years of DLC guys keep waiting.

Ck2 combat is just better. And the UI, both qualitatively and stylistically is better. Ck3 is I between MOBA and strategy game looks wise. It just lacks that medieval feel that CK2 has.

When I conquer a county in ck3, nothing happens. When I conquer a county in ck2, I feel that land, those people, passing under my control.

I don't know why, but CK2 is just more fun than CK3. I have way more fun just sitting around and reading events in CK2 than I have fighting vikings and forming England in CK3 with more than 20 mods installed

bro ck2 is a wacky and crazy game and we just sit and read the stupid but fun events and things don't go the way you intended them to go. i just love it😂

Ck2 sound design is so much better. Like the battle sounds, the event crowds sounds, the gold sounds, etc. It helps to immerse you into what is happening.

Nothing quite compares to ck2’s feeling sure it’s wacky and has its flaws but also some weird sense of life, I spent 1000 hours on just vanilla (cause I’m broke) but witch ck3 I can barely bring myself to boot up the game, bought it on sale and I just feel like it was a waste of money it just feels soulless, like it should’ve been a 9.99 mobile game rather than a $60 game with a disgustingly uncomfortable Ui in the ps5 and I only payed 20. Full-price would’ve given me depression, I mean it is okay (I feel like I hate too much on the game) but it just doesn’t feel like the big improvement on the series i was expecting.

Bloodlines are SOOO MUCH BETTER in Ck2 than CK3 dynasty legacies or legends
I think the only good things about Ck3 is stress and councilor job progress bars
Also it looks to me like all this 3d modelling has made modding take 3 times more time and 4 times more effort, for very little gain

for your 1st point in ck3 if the PERSON you are at war against has any other land and you occupy that it will go directly to you when you enforce your demands

Playing this game, you really appreciate the instability of bigger empires, and rise of Shai events, keeps the Muslims busy while I empire build.

Ck2 has so much more flavour you could go 50 years on ck3 and not get some fun event while in ck2 you can literally play chess with death but tbh i prefer army and conquer system of ck3 more
