If you change the password here, can you also use the same password in the ASDM launcher?

Which step are you on where you are stuck on loading? If you can not read the document in the video to see what step you are on, just go to Cisco.com and do a search for "password reset ASA". It should take you to the PDF about troubleshooting for the ASA and you can find the steps in there.

Sorry mate, having a hard time reducing the file size to make it under the limit for youtube. Will see what I can do about finding a different video codec for future videos

Great video!! Can you tell me -- does this leave the running config otherwise in place, or will this wipe any of the other config? It has been a few years since I worked heavily on a ASA 5505, and now that I need to reset the password, I can't remember if we lose the full config, or if this changes just the password.

Will this work on a Cisco pix 501 firewall? I have one of them and forgot the password

Hi, I did everything exactly as you said. When I type enable and attempt to use the default password, I still get access denied. Where did I go wrong?
