Jazz Licks on a Maj7 chord - How To Sound Like Bebop

Показать описание
In this video, I am going to use some Jazz Licks to cover some of the techniques and how you use them on a Maj7th chord. The 5 examples will show you how you can use Chromaticism, Arpeggios, trills and octave displacement on a maj7th chord.

Learning the rules of a jazz language like Bebop can be a really useful way to study and internalize that sound.

Let me know what you think about this type of video with a concept applied to one chord and not a progression?

I think the Maj7 chord and its arpeggio are the foundation of most traditional jazz lines. When I discovered this my playing really took off. I’m glad you discussed this very important and often overlooked topic.

Great stuff, Jens. A springboard for coming up with lines over other chords as well. Cheers!

I like your videos both on youtube and instagram.. I was a teacher of English for 36 years ...you got that pedagocical approach specific to good efficient teachers. My playing was sloppy and redundant .thanks to you it's slightly improving I don't know if we have access to Patreon where I live . If it is then I would gladly support.

Jen's you mentioned the connection between classical and beebop with counterpoint. A while back I sat down with the Charlie Parker played the root of the chord and the melody....really was surprised by how classical it sounded.
