The TSA Pre✓® application program allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to directly apply for TSA Pre✓® expedited screening. Be part of an expedited security screening program that helps take the stress out of travel. No need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts and light jackets.

Apply for your TSA Precheck (US Citizens, US Nationals, and US Legal Residents) at

All active duty services members, national guard members, and reservists of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines are automatically opted in to receive TSA Precheck as a condition of their service.

All Department of Defense civilian workers are also eligible for TSA Precheck, but they must opt in to receive the benefit by going to

Your ten digit DoD ID Number is your (KTN) Known Traveler Number.

Unfortunately, retirees, veterans, spouses, and children over the age of 12 are not eligible for this benefit and must apply through the normal $85 application process if they wish to travel through TSA Precheck with their family.

Trusted Traveler Programs:

The Trusted Traveler Programs (Global Entry, TSA Pre✓®, SENTRI, NEXUS, and FAST) are risk-based programs to facilitate the entry of pre-approved travelers. All applicants are vetted to ensure that they meet the qualifications for the program to which they are applying. Receiving a "Best Match" or program recommendation based on eligibility or travel habits does not guarantee acceptance into any Trusted Traveler program.

I love using the TSA PreCheck. AMEX will pay for the fee. I purchased it last year and the appointment did not take more than 30 minutes. I travel for work or when visiting family so it's worth it when I travel alone or with my children.

Great video! Just for clarification, you don't have to enroll TSA precheck program when you're active duty yes? Becasue you are already enrolled and your DOD ID is your KTN.

If your didn't put in your KTN while purchasing tickets online, can you still get tsa precheck by showing them your cac?

I was told all you do is put your DOD number in known traveler number on DTS

I think in this video you mentioned that the tsa pre-check doesn’t apply to spouses. I recently used my wife’s dependent DOD number and it does work for pre check. 😊

Is it possible to add your known traveler number to your tickets after you’ve bought them?

Welll damn this clears up a lot, if you’ve got a DOD Number we just put that in, when we purchase the ticket, and that should match up with our CAC card # on the back.

Non Mil / DOD it costs 85 for precheck, global entry is 100 and it comes with precheck

Anyone notice that nexus is $50 and includes tsa pre so it would save you $35 if you just get nexus.

the Retired and 100% DV has a DOD number in our card which might work as a KTN?

Oh yea, I saw the amendment to your video. That DOD number on your CAC is equivalent to the Global number you are given. These young soldiers didn’t know that, and they weren’t supposed to comment on anything regarding the affairs of the Military and TSA, but rather should have told the journalists that they would get their card, and have an Army Public Relations Officer reply back to them. To make a comparison, do you remember Forrest Gump at the anti- war rally in Washington D.C., and the Army Major, or Colonel, in an obscured fashion, went and unplugged the microphone.
