Here is why I stopped intermittent fasting...

In this video, Thomas and I talk about the potential side effects of intermittent fasting and why I donn't believe it is necessary for optimal health...

I strongly believe diet is the biggest lever you can pull to heal and improve your health...

It's always meat / organs / fruit / honey / raw dairy.

This is an ANIMAL-BASED diet, and I believe this is the most optimal diet for humans on the planet...

Side effects of fasting for the Orthodox Christian are humility, peace, freedom from incessant bodily desires, and a closer connection with God 🤗

I have practiced fasting for over 50 years with no ill effects; I’m 76, take no medication, and lift weights 5 days a week. I’ll stick with what I know works, thank you.

So I agree with Paul on 99.9% of his content . With that being said I follow his diet to a T BUT I do it on intermittent fasting schedule . I only eat in a 4 hr window usually 3-7pm . My results are pretty insane . Down 40+ lbs . But this meat, fruit and raw honey diet is INCREDIBLE!

One thing I learned about Paul is that he is great at convincing himself of what’s convenient at a particular time. He cherry picks studies, he always did it from the beginning. He convinced himself to be a vegan, carnivore, followed a keto diet and now his animal based version diet.
There’s a ton of research on fasting. Research that was done before Paul was born.

“Why do we put more stress into our body?”
Exercising is stress
Sauna is stress
Cold plunge is stress
Fasting is stress
But all of the above is great for us.

Fasting is one of the tools I used to break my addiction from hyper processed food.

To be fair, I didn’t know a lot about fasting at the time but I learned quickly. the body adapts fast. it was a 48 hour water fast which seemed extreme, but now I can do rolling 36s-48s no problem.

I remember trying to come back to my favorite snacks and for the first time I could actually taste the chemical stench and could finish my snacks. I went to fruit, simple meals, I would buy steak cooked from a restaurant that became expensive quick and I learned to prepare and cook my own food. Fasting is powerful!

From an ancestral point of view, humans have been in an involuntary state of fasting for most of our existence. Food availability was never reliable or consistent. We have evolved to be in an intermittent state of fasting, not three full meals a day.

I believe the key is moderation. I fast:

1. At least 12 hours a day starting 4 hours from my last meal into the new day.

2. 48 hours once a month.

3. 72 hours once during the months of June & December.

I will stick with IF. My body is fully satiated with 1-2 big meals, but starving with 6 tiny meals

I'm 51 hours into a fast as I watch. So far I feel great, it's not painful.

When I heard Pauls opening statement, it hit me like a truck. I've done fasts off and on since around 2003 with good results because I ate junk food often. However, I am 61 now and the last 3 day fast I did last month just didn't feel right. After I broke the fast with a very small meal, I developed "burn mouth" which lasted two weeks. It felt like I put boiling water in my mouth. I also couldn't sleep, and felt very weird all over. Since then, I've cut out dairy, sweets (especially mixing sweets with fats), and dialed down my overeating and too many mixtures of foods and eat in a more sensible way. I feel so much better and have more energy. I think Paul's point is If you don't eat junk processed food, eat too much, mix too many food items together, drink alcohol, smoke, or any other habits that cause bad reactions to your health, you shouldn't need to fast. I know Paul eats dairy, but I may be lactose intolerant or because of my IBS can't digest dairy and nuts until I heal my gut first. It's a challenge to find what works for you because there are so many foods we eat, we may not know which ones are causing the bad reactions, until we do an elimination test. Thanks for the info guys! 👍

Thomas looks fantastic. I follow him for a long time and he wasn’t looking so healthy for a minute and now he looks so glowingly healthy.

I eat to live... I don't live to eat... I eat when I am hungry.

Fasting changed my life, both intermittent and prolonged. I do 20+ - 4- daily. Sometimes its OMAD, sometimes not. Because I weight train, at times it makes it hard to hit my target of 200gr of protein but none the less I dont believe anything, including my diet, has resulted in more clear results of all my bloodwork, energy levels and muscle growth than fasting, intermittient fasting and weight training. I workout every single day fasted and I feel incredible at age 41. I initially lost 65lbs in fat/visceral fat and gained 13lbs in lean muscle. I look and feel amazing and wish more people would see the power of this combination. My physique is not too far off from Paul’s and I mainly eat a paleo/whole foods diet, with a strong emphasis on meat and eggs.

Been doing Omad for years lost a ton a weight super slim and trim. What I’ve learned is once you obtain your weight goal you don’t need to continue . 2x smaller meals a day is better then one bigger one once you obtained your goals

Glad to see we’re all on board with fasting. The most important part of carnivore or animal based is to observe how your body responds to things. Well, that’s what I do with fasting too. And it feels great.

My opinion: If you are lean (my experience), do it every once in a while IF you feel like it, and don't overdo it. Think it like exercise, it's likely beneficial to stress your body sometimes, but it won't fit in every situation and constant stress is bad. Sometimes I just feel like I need a reset, and a 16h+ fast brings me back to balance. If you are forcing yourself to fast on a strict schedule, you are probably doing it wrong. Fasting could be more helpful in weight loss situation.

Well I noticed one day when I was just starting fasting I was on the 17 th hour and I was hitting a tennis ball against the handball court and I finally saw what the coach had been saying in the tennis clinic. I was amazed that I could see the ball directly meet the racquet strings. And I went to the clinic and coaches further confirmed it that I was playing much better with superior vision. Not only that but my whole body was reacting faster. In fact I would recommend a student to take his exam in a fasted state. Your brain just works faster.

I ❤ fasting, but never more than 16 to 18 hours, sometimes I fast shorter, I eat when I am hungry. Thank you for sharing 🎉

Another thing to think about is that if there is anything bad in your diet, then not eating those things for some portion of the day gives your body a break from having to deal with those things. That's sort of like suggesting that if you are eating poison, then if you only intermittently eat the poison, it's better than a constant stream of it. That's another way of saying that you can compensate to a degree for a bad diet by intermittent fasting.
