0:24 - here you can see that the root of this system is stored on a LVM...
So if you don't use LVM, this video does not apply to you!

I try this on a VM machine, and I managed to resize the virtual harddrive and the LUKS and LVM partition.
But the size of the ubuntu-lv will not change, it still is on the old size. I tried the lvresize and the resize2fs commands (with reboot of course), but no change. What do I miss ? My guess is a problem with the partition table.

I haven't tried your method but look very dangerous ! once you fdisk and remove/delete the root partition which /dev/sda3. this will definitely destroy the root and the system will not be able to boot up.
