A grieving dog makes us grieving humans hurt even more. When my dad died at home in bed, his dog didn't understand where he went. After about two weeks, his dog, a German short haired pointer walked into dads room and began bellowing the saddest howl I have ever heard. That was 24 years ago. Heart wrenching

i believe that dogs have a deeper understanding, emotional bond with owners more so than most think..i def think the dog feels the change in owners energy..the dog looks so sad..i think this is a great idea for both the man's spirit and the dog..

Dogs are really amazing creatures. They are loyal beyond most humans ability. Poor guy, sad for his family's loss and his furry pal.

Reminds me of when my wife passed away. Our basset hound and Terrier say by the front door for months waiting for her to come home. It broke my heart every day to see it. Finally, the Basset Hound, Murphy died of a broken heart.

This reminds me of when my uncle passed. We were dog sitting while he was at work but on his way back he got into a horrible wreck. Poor Calvin kept waiting at the door for his my uncle & didn’t understand he was truly gone until his funeral, it was an open casket and we walked Calvin to it and many tears started falling from his eyes. No howl, no bark he just sat there tearing up more and more, seeing his master unresponsive for the first time. We took Calvin in & we kept my uncles old flannel jacket and whenever me or my parents would wear it, the dog would get excited and jump on us more than usual. We keep the jacket on his dog bed as a pillow and he loves it. He’ll whine whenever we wash it from time to time & he notices it’s not there but we always put it back & he’ll always feel better when we do. My uncle wasn’t Calvin’s “owner”, he was his father
