Intertextuality is something that is seen regularly in ancient literature - existing stories, characters, and motifs were regularly reused to create something that was both intensely familiar but still new to the audience. Megan takes a brief look at how this worked, practically speaking, using the Epic of Gilgamesh as a test-case.
