I had a born feral cat walk into my house last fall. He had been letting me pet him while he was eating before he came in. He still lets *ME* pet him. However, I let him tell me when he feels like I can. I hold out my hand. Unlike my other house cats, who might rub my hand, Braveheart sniffs it, then turns his head away. That is his permission to pet him. I do have to watch for when he's done. He doesn't always leave, but he will turn back. If he just turns back, that is fine, but when he is done he tries to grab my finger/s with his mouth. He has had a finger in his mouth more than once in the 9 months he's been inside, but has never bit me. I do know that of those teeth do get around a finger you do NOT yank it away.
