Chris himself told Jamal he was just trolling but people took him literally.

My friend cannot do normal deadlifts because he doesn't feel comfortable but he can do sumo (220 KG) with much bigger weights than me (180 KG). i can do both lifts. also my friend likes squats and i don't like normal squats however i love hack squats. It comes down to whats comfortable for your body structure and how the weight feels for you.

i cant get a good techinque with conventional and always had lower back pain after it, but when i switched to sumo, everything was perfect and i finally felt my ass and not my back after a lift

Here’s the truth: conventional will always be more impressive than sumo.
500 sumo is just not as cool as 500 conventional

If you can't get big numbers on conventional, you do sumo.

Many people discredit sumo based on the argument that it significantly reduces rom. I tested the rom difference between different stances changing the distance my feet are apart, and it only starts to really cut into the rom when you hit the 30in+ mark. If your feet are 54in apart (aka touching the plates), then your rom would be ~25% less than if your feet were together. I pull a narrow sumo (feet ~25in apart) and found that it only changes my rom by ~5% compared to having my feet completely together. I don't feel like getting into any arguments, just wanted to share a little experiment I did. If you want any other questions on the data I gathered go ahead and ask.

I personally started with Conventional. Was way stronger with that than i was with sumo but then i decided to try sumo more regularly and found out that it fits my structure more and my revovery from sumo deadlifting is way quicker compared to my conventional deadlifts and those two things are the main reasons why i switched over to sumo deadlifting. It also took me around 2 months to catch up with my Conventional strenght but once i caught up and started training sumo i progressed way quicker and gained shit tons of more strenght and endurance compared to when i was pulling conventional.

Trap, conventional, sumo different lifts for different people and different goals. As long as you're lifting doesn't really matter!

I train both, I will focus on sumo for a couple of weeks and then on conventional

Sumo just feels more comfortable for me personally. Also saves my shins from getting banged up.

It is, conventional is harder and thus MORE impressive, this isn't subjective folks, its facts

Usually sumo haters hate sumo bc they think that it's just easier. But it's not that simple. Some people can pull more on conventional, and some people cannot. An over exaggerated bench arch for example, that's a real problem for me.

Weight is weight, guess my leg press is a squat

I happened to see Olympic weight lifting, when the most of us struggle to lift weights upto our knees ....they lifted those weights over their head in split second.

Keep in mind he's a bodybuilder and is speaking in terms of hypertrophy .. in powerlifting that's not even a question that sumo is valid .. but I see some guys hitting sumo deads on back day .. it doesn't benifit that much for your back as far as conventional does .. well again speaking of hypertrophy terms ..
