I can pull sumo 10 times per week without any recovery issues but I can only pull conventional once per year, that sh*t is taxing.

Nice, I personally pull conventional strictly because sumo is harder in the knees (I have a torn meniscus injury from years ago in my right knee that hasn’t really been the same since it healed)

Sumo is better for smaller lifters, it's why it's so common in lower weight classes, while I don't think I've seen any absolutely massive people pull sumo

I tried pulling sumo after coming back to lifting from a 3 year break. did a six week cycle and went to max out sumo, missed the weight, pulled it pretty easily conventional so I switched back lol

I pull conventional bc I have condor wingspan. If I’m going to eat shit on the bench because of my leverages I might as well benefit from it on the pull.

What’s your stretching/ recovery routine? If you have one I’d be interested to know

Justin can you make a video on a “perfect squat” (stance, form etc) it’ll help out a ton since whenever I’m squatting it’s always uncomfortable and it isn’t the weight!

As a taller guy (6’3”) it felt very awkward to do sumo. I tried it for awhile but switched back to conventional. Much more comfortable.

I just hit a new deadlift PR of 225 for 2 reps at 13 years old. i know it's not that great but i'm proud of it

I prefer conventional too, glad to see you made the switch. inspires me to be able to push for high numbers despite avoiding sumo

As a short guy, I have no choice on this lol. Sumo all the way

I relate to this hard. I used to very easily get in a great sumo position and easily get in a stable low bar but nowadays I can't do that unless I warm up for a long ass time. Went from 180 to 230 and my mobility went with it

This is good information. I’ll pay close attention as well. This could happen to any of us. Thanks for Sharing

Justin it will be nice if you explained how to do a trancition beteween movements for example: HBS to LBS or in your case sumo to conventional. BTW love the content keep it up!

What's your opinion on hook vs mixed grip for deadlifts? can you run through the pros and cons of each and which you would personally recommend?

we have a very similar build so I’m excited to see more videos of you pulling conventional!

Ed Coan style sumo is the best of both worlds

As a fellow tall dude it makes me so happy to see your upper back rounding. No matter what I do, at 95% my 1RM I round just like you.

Jeff nippard did alot of research on sumo being less rom, it's less rom but more quad dominant so it feels easier. But the range of motion is different for everyone and although the weight comes off the floor at a lower height, your hips and knees are interesting in terms of rom, your knees get more romantic during a sumo lift and your hips get about the same. Only difference is that conventional is lifting with more of your back than your legs which makes the lift "feel" more strenuous and sumo deads are more quad dominant so so the feeling of high cns exertion is less. But it's all depends on your leverages, can't knock someone being built for sumo, just cause you aren't built for sumo.
