Please everyone do make use of your local library. They are constantly getting new books in and it's all free x

Totally agree about the items on sale. Get a 100% discount by not buying it! 😊

I bought a slow cooker! It makes a huge difference to the quality and nutritional value of food. It’s cheap to run and easy to make tasty dinners with.

Charity shops are good place to find inexpensive books. Have rationed myself to good housekeeping magazine and prima occasionally. I am a 56 year old singleton and my meals are usually chicken and mince based, with leftovers I usually pop in the freezer. But for many years I always had something quick and easy in the freezer for the can’t be bothered days. Alcohol is limited to socialising. Trying to shop buying clothes now and keep it to what I need. My iphone is over 5 years old now. IPad too! I have only been alone for a while after a long marriage, and my daughter leaving home, and my new life is still evolving. Still not actually divorced yet but have finally started to realise that my new life can be better, especially as I would like to see more of the world and that was never going to happen easily as my STBX was on a different page to me when it came to money. Totally get what you say about making small sacrifices so you can do the bigger things that are important to me. However difficult like is for you now, remember not only is your glass half full, it is also refillable.

Thanks for your video. I used to have a 'book habit'. I weaned myself off by buying secondhand books, and now I mainly rely on the library. You can look at magazines and newspapers on your library account. For day-trips, outings, and holidays, it is now mainly phone photos, the odd postcard, and occasionally a fridge magnet. Besides saving money, there's the clutter factor to consider.

I’m with you. I don’t like clothes shopping. I wear my clothes out . I’m a stay at home caregiver so I don’t need anything fancy.

Thanks for a lot of food for thought! I don’t do fast fashion either. I make almost all of my clothes and those I don’t, I buy from recycling sites like Vinted. We always buy a fridge magnet from where we travel to, they are cheap and a lovely reminder of where you’ve been. We get a lot of pleasure in choosing just the right one. As to books, I spend a lot of time in book shops but after I’ve chosen the books I want to read, I find kindle versions which are so much cheaper. Not the same as a book, I know but you do get to read it! 😀

My local library allows you to reserve books online and borrow ebooks and audiobooks for free. It's a great resource.

I've taken my credit card off of all online sites. I have to go dig it out if I want something. I also make myself wait one day. I've saved so much money this way.

eating out and takeaways its an area where you can make real savings I think peer pressure is an area that people find difficult to negociate probably because they dont want to look bad in front of their colleagues when they are working long hours and someone pipes up about getting a take out, it can be so tempting to go along with it because its nice to share food its sociable but its an expensive habit that people can fall into. One of the best things I ever did was get myself a capsule wardrobe only tend to wear the same few things anyway and really pay attention to sustainablity of the things I do buy also minimising my possessions. I have found that I actually do make use of the things I have rather than them lounging in cupboards, never to see the light of day. I used to be a fritter of money now I'm a saver and much more intentional about the choices I make.

Having watched your batch cooking - please try the Thai red butternut squash (find the biggest) and bulk half with rice, the other with pasta (don’t forget the fish sauce). You will never want a takeaway again 😉

I love books, but it’s years since I bought a ‘new’ book…I go to the library, they will order books in if want you really want is not n their shelves, or charity shops are a great place

"Influenced things" is a really good point... I'm not a follower of trends in general but I think sometimes you find yourself aspiring to a certain lifestyle and that's when I'm vulnerable to the power of suggestion! And I can end up spending a lot more than is really rational!

I love Vinted for clothes and books. You can get high quality clothes for a fraction of high street costs, and books I tend to bulk buy collections on there and only pay 1 lot of postage 😊

My biggest flex is that I have a hoodie that I owned 6 years ago. Think I paid like £2 from a charity shop and still get compliments on it 😅

I too am not a cloths shopper, I buy very classic cloths and shoes, the best quality I can afford and wear them for years. I try to buy second hand where possible as this allows me to buy better quality at a price I can afford. Thankfully I am not usually pulled into the consumerism that is everywhere today. I stock up on things I use when they are on sale or reduced, I will buy in bulk having up to 12 months supply if the price is right. Even if something is only 50 pence I won’t buy it unless it is a planned purchase.
