This method is perhaps the longest and least effective way to teach a dog to not jump. If that dog isn't sitting, she won't think twice before jumping again. Use a leash, keep your foot on it so it's not long enough for the dog to jump properly so when they try they'll deliver a self-correction. Reinforce when they stop trying to jump and let them receive that pressure when they do jump.

Everyone is an expert. Takes take and conditioning. I agree, break up the motions a bit, but this can work with good timing and firmness. Only big thing I'd note is I wouldn't be doing that without a house lease, you can step on lease and it's self correcting.

Im confused. The dog keeps jumping ? Are you teaching to jump her ? What if you dont have treats in you at all times ? 🤔

If you are struggling this is not the best way to teach, if anything it's a game

This method is currently working for my dog. Were having an issue with getting on the counter tho :/

That was terrible training. The dog will think it’s supposed to jump and then sit to get the treat lol

If jumping on people scared them away then they were not fit to be the owner of a high energy, working dog like her. I’m glad she scared them away! She needs consistent, ongoing attention and training for her whole life… An active, intentional owner.

LOL the dog sit you gave the dog a treat and it jumped again. Then you said she jumped but did not make contact, however grandma and any handicap person would have been knocked over. A child could be hurt badly if the dog jumped on them, not everyone can just dodge the dog when she jumps. Then every time you give the dog a treat and hold the bowl in air when the dog knows the treat is there it will jump to get to the treat or food. This means by holding the treat and food up high you are literally asking the dog to jump to where the food or treats are that you are giving to her. However you may be insulting the dogs intelligence, the dog knows the food and treats are in the bowl held high in view. I am so very confused by this.

See here you’re teaching her to sit, you have to correct her when she jumps by saying off or leave it and reward when she decides to sit when you correct and say off or leave it. A little different.

I swear I just adopted this dog. Only mine is all black. But has that same behavior. I can not get into her head about this, even though she is very smart.

This is video gives me a headache… just put a leash on the dog simple fix.. don’t even gotta use “harsh” collars use a regular collar. Because this + only method is trash because then everyone in the family has to follow your positive methods even grandma….and I don’t think she’s gonna be able to dodge the dog…Where as just using a leash on your dog inside will eliminate jumping altogether by never letting the dog jump in the first place. I do recommend using corrections to Reinforce the sit command…. Sit means sit. Not just when the dog thinks he’s getting something.

Wow my dog looks so much like this same size and exact same colors except my dog has white on her chest, a small amount of white and the end of her tail and brown paws with a little white

😂 I'm sorry, but this is more entertaining than educational. In a few short months... she'll be an 80lb jumping bean.

First time my dog did it to me I kneed him in the rib cage and he's never done it to me again. Then my buddy did the same thing when my dog jumped on him. He's a year-and-a-half old now and has never done it again since. Dogs are extremely intelligent and learn quickly there are consequences.

There's no one and only right way to deal with a jumping dog. If someone is looking for a different trainer, with a more in-depth method regarding jumping dogs, I would say look at Victoria Stillwell's series "It's Me or the Dog".
