This is all true, but oddly enough, for my ex, “he can do better than me” really means “he needs someone not as good as himself.” This is because he’s a fearful avoidant who prefers a woman who actually IS clingy and needy and chases him. And I’ve NEVER been that woman. Now that he’s slowly starting to come back into my life, and apologize all over the place, I’ve decided that the best policy is to not change myself in any way, still treat him exactly as Coach Blac says…cordial and polite, and taking care of myself and my elderly Mommy. Let him pursue me, not ignoring him at all, and NEVER dredging up whatever past mistakes and harms he’s ever done. He will always see me as “too good for him, ” but maybe he can get therapy and also develop a relationship with his Creator that is so vital to any human relationship he will ever have. For me, that right there is the number one prerequisite to me ever getting back together with him. By the way, it’s been well over a YEAR since he broke up with me.

Even without her I can be better than yesterday and live my life at its fullest. I did too many wrong moves and probably gave her some red flags, but as the first relationship, after also the first real and painful broke up (made through msgs) I feel relieved and I understand the value of no contact as MY benefit, not her.
